Welcome and thank you for your interest in our newly created role of Executive Director of Change and Innovation.

Seven years ago, Richmond and Wandsworth Councils came together to do something quite unique – a single workforce serving two boroughs and delivering services for over half a million residents; a whole slice of London.

Working across inner and outer London, with two political administrations and two sovereign identities, but an entirely integrated workforce - there's no one else like us, and there’s no other role like this.

The shared staffing arrangement has proved its worth in terms of reducing costs and delivering high quality services and we were delighted to have this reinforced by LGA colleagues earlier this year via a Peer Challenge. We’ve done some truly great and innovative things, but with new challenges to face and new opportunities to harness, now is not the time to stand still.

Our emerging change programme sets out both councils’ ambitions to enhance our service delivery, connect better with our partners and strengthen our communities, while securing our financial stability, to foster a brighter future for the people of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth.

The broad framework for the change programme has been agreed and significant resources have been allocated to take this forward, but as Executive Director of Change and Innovation, you’ll lead this agenda and be instrumental to its success. You will have significant scope to determine how the programme develops and be involved in the appointment of other senior positions fundamental to its delivery.

Central to the role will be the leadership of our people services, driven by our new values. Still in their infancy, there is much to do to embed these, ensuring we deliver value-led change and make Richmond and Wandsworth a great employer; recruiting, retaining and developing the best talent in the sector.

This is a unique opportunity to think bigger and lead by example– not only by breaking barriers and spearheading change but by shaping our vision and developing a culture that embraces difference, champions creativity and nurtures innovation; putting people at the centre of everything we do.

This is not just another job; it’s a launch-pad for career-defining work.

Make history with us.
